The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.136 kg of suspected methamphetamine, valued at approximately ₹1.1 crore, after searching a passenger bus arriving in Hyderabad from Bhopal on Friday (October 23).

Acting on specific intelligence, officers of the DRI Hyderabad Zonal Unit conducted a systematic search of the bus after it arrived in Hyderabad. During the examination, they recovered four packets containing a suspected narcotic substance concealed underneath the mattresses of sleeper berths.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine using a field-testing kit, the DRI said. The seized substance had a gross weight of 1.136 kg and was valued at approximately ₹1.1 crore.

During preliminary enquiry, DRI officers found that the passengers occupying the berths where the packets were concealed had boarded the bus at Bhopal and alighted at Nagpur.

The suspected methamphetamine was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. No arrests have been made so far. Further investigation is under way.
